Neomia Vercher, age 72, of Roswell, NM passed away October 7, 2019, at home with her loving family by her side.
Neomia was born to the late Raymond and Clara Island on January 21, 1947 in Arcadia, Louisiana. She graduated from Roswell High School and received a degree in Accounting from Eastern New Mexico University Roswell.
Neomia married the late Jimmy Vercher and they lived together in Roswell, NM for many years. Neomia’s memory will be cherished by her only son, Kenneth Island of Portsmouth, Virginia. She is also survived by two grandchildren Claretta Island and Jacqueline Williams, two surviving sisters Dorris Cooper, Linda Reese and a host of family who love her dearly.
Neomia was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was one of the warmest and most caring women you could ever meet. The heart she had for others was a rare gift to the many people who had the privilege to know her and be blessed by her.
Viewing ceremony will be held from 12:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday October 9, 2019 at LaGrone Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
