PADILLA, NICK- Nick Padilla, 61, beloved Father and husband, was carried by the angels of God into the very presence of the God he loved on Monday, February 4, 2019. He entered this world on March 2, 1957 in Capitan, New Mexico, born to Nick C. Padilla and Helen Sedillo Padilla. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Josefina Schaffino, firstborn son Nick Padilla; son James Padilla, daughter Stephanie Rico, & daughter Elena Marie Padilla. God saw fit to bless him with the privilege of being a father to Henry Luevano, Rocio Rodriguez, Adriana Coronado & Rosalinda Rodriguez. He also leaves behind a beloved sister Edna Bryant with whom he was very close.
Nick Padilla was a well-known man in his community of Roswell, New Mexico. He was most known for his kindness, hard work and dedication to his family, friends, and the community at large. In the words of his wife Josefina "He was a very kind man.
Anytime someone was asking for money he would give 5, 10 dollars". He never dealt with a slack hand to those in need. He grew up in a generation of people who cared for their neighbor, and fulfilled duty. He touched the lives of those around him with joy and always approached people with empathy and compassion. He loved, this was his primary occupation and divine calling. He lived and worked with a simple contentment rooted in the knowledge that he worked diligently for everything he had, but never lived in excess. For him, being surrounded by those he loved was a crown of glory that he wore with a holy pride that glorified the God he served. He never shied away from talking about eternal things and placing his faith firmly in Jesus.
He was a truck driver by trade and continued in this occupation all of his adult life. He loved the open road and would use this time to meditate and think deeply about the things of God. Even when he wasn't hauling trailers, he enjoyed cruising in his own truck. When his children were little he would drive up into the mountains of Ruidoso and enjoy the scenery with his kids by his side. Many people do not know this about Nick, but he was actually a thinker, a deep thinker. What went through his mind during those long hours on the road we may never know. But what we do know, is that if out of the heart spring the issues of life, he probably thought about the people he loves as was evident by the way he gave himself to others. Nick was always an early riser, and early in the morning of February 4th, 2019, Nick gave his Spirit into the hands of his Savior, carried personally by his mighty angels. Psalm 116:15 says Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Rising early, he went to be with his Lord and those that preceded him. May we all follow his example.
Preceding Nick in his death was his father Nicholas C. Padilla; mother Helen Sedillo Padilla, sister, Joy Padilla; grandparents, Petro and Idalia Sedillo, aunt, Della Sedillo; uncle, James Sedillo; aunt, Margaret Sedillo; and cousins, Selina Sedillo; Jamie Sedillo and Michael Jaramillo.
