Nina Shumate

SHUMATE, NINA E.Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Nina E. Shumate, age 94, of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota who passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.

Nina was born September 24, 1917 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Clarence Rose Dunlap Ayers. She married Melvin Shumate on Sept. 24, 1954 at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Nina worked in production at Lakeland Bakery for 22 years. She was a member of Granite City Baptist Church in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Tom Ness of Brooklyn Park stepchildren, Shirley Shumate of Las Vegas, NV and Don Becky Shumate of Oceanside, CA grandchildren, Monique Ness, Lance Ness, Margo Berg, Joey OKonek, Kelly Pearson, Lisa Blumster and Dr. Wendy Shumate and many great grandchildren. Nina was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin grandchildren, Gary OKonek and Don Shumate, Jr. and brother, Clyde Ayers.
