Norma Grant

April 11, 1926 — April 15, 2017

Norma Eugenia Grant, 91, passed away to meet her Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 15,2017, at home surrounded by family. Norma was born to Oscar Troy White and Lillie Eugenia Campbell on April 11, 1926, in El Paso, Texas. She will lie in state from 1 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel: the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. The service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Berrendo Baptist Church.
Norma graduated from Austin High School in El Paso, Texas as Salutatorian of the Class of 1943. She met and married the love of her life Sterling Grant on April 3, 1943. She secretly ran away with Sterling to Las Cruces, New Mexico to get married and to hide it from her parents. Sterling was being deploy to Wll. They were married for 66 years before his passing in 2009. She worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for a combined 30 years as a telephone operator and cashier before retiring in 1986. She was active with the Telephone Pioneers and Jingle Bob Club. She played the organ for many years at Trinity Baptist Church and Berrendo Baptist Church in Roswell. Close and dear friends were Darlene Enzian and Polly Morris. And her sweet and kind house keeper Elissa.
Norma was a truly dedicated Christian and mother. She lost the love of her life, Sterling Grant, in 2009 and continued to look forward to the day that she could be reunited. She collected anything and everything. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. She loved attending and being a part of the family at Berrendo Baptist Church where she played the organ and was a part the Ladies Golden Circle Sunday School Class. Norma will be remembered as always being at the Little Base Ball Fields here in Roswell with her husband and later to watch her grandsons play. She was able to Celebrate her 91st birthday with family and friends on Monday night where she was so happy and laughed with her family as she continued to keep everyone in stiches. What a memory to cherish forever.
