BORIS, ODESSA L.- Odessa L. Boris, of Queen Creek, Arizona, passed away peacefully to walk with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 6, 2020, at the age of 99, in Queen Creek, Arizona.
She was born at Commerce, Texas on December 17, 1920 to Ezra and Lillian Traylor. Odessa graduated from Hope High School, Hope NM in 1938, and worked as a bookkeeper at the Cotton Gin in Artesia, New Mexico before moving to Roswell, New Mexico. She was married to William J. Boris on November 7, 1953 who precedes her in death.
Odessa worked for Roswell Funeral Home and then LaGrone Funeral Chapel as their organist for many years. She was a bookkeeper at The Colony House and worked as the Insurance clerk for Dr. Larry Barbour at the Osteopathic Clinic until 1981 when she retired.
She took great joy in serving the Lord, and for more than 60 years was active in church choir and bible studies with Trinity Methodist Church, The Salvation Army, The Gideon’s Fellowship and Grace Community Church while in Roswell. She moved to Mesa, Arizona with her daughter, Bonnie, in 2004 to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather.
Odessa is also preceded in death by her brothers, Morris, Hoyt, Ernest and Dale Traylor, sister Naomi Traylor, stepsisters, Mary Moore and Vera Cowan and brother-in-law Anthony Boris.
Odessa is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Hundley and husband, Robert from Florence, Arizona and daughter, Carol Mcguire and husband, Tim from Roswell, NM; grandchildren: Becky Jernigan, Sammy Jernigan, Kristi Ball, Mandy Cobos, Jody Jones and Aaron McGuire; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa Jernigan-Ball , Logan Ball, Gavin Ball, Raelynn Jones and Nathan Cobos.
