WAKEFIELD, OTERO Memorial Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 17, 2008 at First United Methodist Church for Otero Lois Pate Wakefield, who passed away April 12, 2008. Associate Pastor Dare Stevens will officiate.

Otero was born in Knott, Texas to Milton Othello and Minnie Pearl Pate, on November 1, 1918. She is preceded in death by husband, Milton, her parents, two brothers, and grandson Todd Payne.

Otero was raised in Arch, New Mexico, graduated from Portales High School, and attended Eastern New Mexico Junior College. She married Milton Wakefield on April 29, 1938. She worked at Sears in Roswell for 26 years until retirement. She was an avid fisherman, and spent many happy hours with Milton.

Otero is survived by her daughters: Jane Wakefield Darnell, Sandra Wakefield Payne and husband Douglas, Diana Wakefield Luck and husband Bill, and Margaret Wakefield Teague. She was a loving grandmother to: Rynnea Wright and husband Randall and children: Kandis and Erynn; granddaughter: Pride Haragan and husband Joel and children: Storrie Weeks, Hannah, Micah; Kendra Riggs and husband Jason and children: Hailey, Lexie, and Buffy. Valerie Kochis and husband David and children: Brittiany and Melissa; grandson: Brian Luck and wife Shelby and daughter: Addycen and expected son Ayden; grandson: Shawn Madden and wife Amanda and children: Tatum and Harrison; grandson: Jeff Teague; grandson: Ty Payne and wife Amanda, and great-grandchildren Bradley and Hayley Payne. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and Dorothea Devlin-Stone. She is also survived by two brothers, M.O. Pate Jr. of Camp Verde, Arizona, Verrell Pate of Lubbock, and sister Glenda Dawn Reeves of Lubbock, Texas.

Memorials may be made in her name to Cowboy Bell Scholarship fund at First

United Methodist Church.
