SMITHERMAN, PATRICIA SHIER -- Services are scheduled for 3:00 PM, Monday, October 23, 2006, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, for Patricia Shier Smitherman, age 60, of Hobbs, NM, who passed away October 18, 2006 in Hobbs. Rev. Richard Smith of Highland Baptist Church will conduct the service. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Patricia was born October 26, 1945 in Clovis, NM to H. H. and Theda Canon Shier. Her father preceded her in death, as well as a granddaughter, Sara Smitherman. Her mother, Theda Shier survives her in Roswell.
Other survivors include one daughter, Connie Martello-Easley and her husband David of Graford, TX, one son, Allen Smitherman of Maplesville, Alabama. She is also survived by 5 granddaughters; Angel Davila, Jasmin Davila, Casey Smitherman, MacKenzie Smitherman and Gracie Smitherman.
Her soul mate and best friend, Jeff Kirkland of Hobbs, NM also survives her.
She is also survived by four sisters; Linda Dever and her husband Bobby of Canon City, CO, Marta Peddie and her husband Joe of Alpine, AZ, Mary Virden and her husband Garry of Roswell and Henrietta Woods and her husband Paul of Springfield, OK.
Pat was raised in Ruidoso, and graduated from Alchesay High School in Whiteriver, AZ in 1964. She was a graduate of ENMU-R, and then graduated from Cliff Mannu Floral Design School in Denver, CO, and was a very talented floral designer, having worked in shops in Natchez, MISS, Selma, ALA, also Ruidoso and Roswell.
She was of the Episcopal faith, and was a past worthy advisor and a member of the Grand Cross of Color of the Order of Rainbow for Girls, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Pallbearers will be Garry Virden, Chris Virden, Nathan Virden, Bobby Dever, David Morrow and Terry Nelson.
Arrangement are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
