MEEKS, RALPH--A Celebration for the Life of Ralph L. Meeks, 79, who passed away on January 9, 2009, will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the First Church of the Nazarene, in Roswell, NM. The services will be conducted by Pastor Garth Hyde assisted by Pastor Steve Sanchez and Rev. Vern Edmondson.

Ralph was born March 5, 1929 in Artesia, NM to Luther and Tennie Meeks. He married Betty Rumbaugh in Odessa, Texas on June 20, 1951. She survives him at the family home. He is also survived by his three children and their families. His son, David Meeks and wife Donna, of Springfield, MO ; his daughter, Carol Barnes and husband Randy, of Hobbs, NM; and his daughter Kathy Murphy and husband Charlie, of Roswell, NM. In addition, other survivors include two brothers, Robert Meeks and Bill Meeks both of Roswell, NM, and a sister, Jeannie Klement of Mesquite, TX. He is survived by his five grandchildren: Jason Meeks and wife Natalie, Joe Barnes and wife Melanie, Jennifer Townsend, Trish Chandler and husband Jesse, and Barton Murphy, as well as his five great-grandchildren.

Ralph served his country in the United States Marine Corps and retired after 27 years as a finance manager for Beneficial Finance Company in Roswell, NM. Ralphs life was defined by his relationship with Christ and it permeated the rest of his life. His devotion to his wife, Betty and the rest of his family was the most prominent characteristic of his life. The friends God put in his life were treasures and a joy to him. He loved his time at the lake and fishing was a respite for him from the business of life and always said the time spent fishing didnt count against you. He and Betty shared a love of bridge and in 1988 both became Life Masters in the American Contract Bridge League.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde McKee, Steve Henderson, Calvin Roberts, Lee Harrison, Don Adams, and Ray Farley.

The family will receive visitors at the family home or will accept condolences online at www.lagronefuneralchapels.com.
