Ralph Petty, Sr.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 am, Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Angus Cemetery in Angus New Mexico 13 miles north of Ruidoso on Hwy 48 for Ralph F. Petty, Sr., who died June 11, 2009 in Roswell, New Mexico.

Ralph was born April 5, 1917 in El Paso Texas to parents Joseph Petty and Beatrice Crow Petty, who preceded him in death, as did his brothers Jess Petty, Vernon Petty and sister, Ruth Grantham.

Ralph married Zane Harkey, May 23, 1941, in Carrizozo, NM. Together they raised 4 children, Ralph Jr., John, Karon and Sandra. The family lived predominately in Carrizozo and Ruidoso. Ralph Jr. died December 8, 2002 in Roswell, NM, and Zane, also of Roswell, died on September 21, 2008.

Ralph married Imogene F. Morris of Abilene Texas on August 27, 1980 and she died in Abilene, TX on January 20, 1993.

Ralph married Doris Jean White of Pampa Texas on August 10, 2004. She survives him at their home in Pampa Texas.

Survivors include Ralph Jrs first wife, Gayle Crouch Petty of Albuquerque, NM; Ralph Jr.'s widow, Mary Margaret Petty of Santa Fe, and their two children, Jennifer Petty and John Benjamin Petty and his mate Candace Baca and their son John Vincent Petty; son John D. Petty of Albuquerque, NM, and his wife Jill and their three children, Chad Petty, Robin Petty, and Lia Armstrong and her husband Shane; daughter Karon Petty of Roswell, NM; daughter Sandra Stewart of Roswell and her husband John, and Sandra s three children, all of Roswell Sashua Patton and husband Joshua, and their son J.J., Michael Schultz and fiance Tiffany Hazelbaker, and Caryn Schultz and her husband Joe Lucero and their three children, Joseph, Danica, and Stephen. Ralph is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families, including Mike Petty of Carrizozo who was very dear to Ralph.

Ralphs extended family includes Doug and Linda Morris and family, Jimmy Morris and family, and Mindy Morris, all of Abilene; Carolyn and Jim Holloway of Dallas, TX and family, Suzanne and Fred Courtney of Pampa, TX and family, and Ken and Sharon White of Liberty, MO and family.
