HALL, RAY WARREN Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at First Baptist Church for Ray Warren Hall, age 75, of Roswell, who passed away on October 17, 2011. Rev. Matt Brooks of First Baptist Church will officiate with a Masonic Graveside to follow at South Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard, and escort provided by the Berrendo Volunteer and Roswell Fire Departments.
Ray was born February 13, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA to Ray and Elma Beatrice Lehtonen Hall and was raised by Elma and Claude Singleton. They preceded him in death, as well as a brother, Walter Singleton.
Ray attended Grosmont High School, near San Diego, California then joined the Air Force in 1954. He was stationed at Walker AFB, Roswell, NM, in 1958, where he met and married Anthonette Toni Camper. They were married for 53 wonderful years. He was a member of the Dusters Car Club. After several tours of duty, including Japan and Spain, he retired from the Air Force in 1974 and joined the Roswell Fire Department, where he worked as a fireman and driver for 20 years. He also served with the Berrendo Volunteer Fire Department for 24 years, and was chief for 6 of those years. He retired from the Fire Department in 1994. He was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Hagerman and Roswell 74 Lodge. Ray enjoyed driving his tractor and riding his motorcycles. He was the ultimate shade tree mechanic. He was always ready to help out a friend or family member in need. Many of his skills he learned from his grandfather, Walter Lehtonen, who emigrated from Finland in 1893. After full retirement, Ray enjoyed his morning coffee with other retirees at Whataburger.
Ray is survived by his children: Steven Ray Hall and wife Sara Huff Hall of Roswell, Gregory Allen Hall and wife Corina Sedillo Hall of Roswell, and Kathleen Kitty Elder and husband Curtis Elder of Denton, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Claude F. Singleton of Alturas, California, and Kelly Hall and Kenny Hall of California. He is also survived by siblings, Rod and Kathleen Camper of Houston, TX, Tamara and Roger Sullins of Roswell, and David Camper of Roswell. Grandchildren: Ricky Hall, Tony Hall, Amanda Graves and husband Ryan, Tyler Hall, Jordan Sjue, Zach Elder, Noah Elder, Levi Elder, and Tori Elder. Great Grandchildren: William and Adalynn Graves. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews who loved him and were loved by him. They all knew their Uncle Ray could be counted on to repair their broken bikes, cycles, and cars. Ray is also survived by his best 4legged friend Max, who is missing his daddy too.
The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the caring and competent Physicians and staff in the ER and ICU at Eastern New Medical Center.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers include, Larry Hall, Sr., Mack Ratliff, Kevin Roe, Tommy Weathers, George Burns, Gary Brill, Charles Berry, Royce Hurford, Rex Bosshart, Phil Pantuso, otherwise known as his Whataburger coffee buddies, and Floyd Bell and Pat Bowen.
