PRESCOTT, RAYMOND- A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Raymond Prescott, age 68, of Dexter, NM, who passed away Friday, June 8, 2018. Doyle Howerton will be officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard.
Raymond was born in Amarillo, TX to Roy L and Inez Prescott on April 18, 1950. Raised in Hope, NM, graduated High School in Artesia, NM and joined the Navy in 1972, served 3 tours in Vietnam earning the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze stars and the National Defense Service Medal.
He spent many years working construction with his step-father, Bob Beck. At 10 years of age, he was the youngest NHRA member as mascot for Pacemakers Auto Club in Clovis, NM. He met and married his best buddy in 1996 in Roswell, NM. Raymond had a big heart for all small animals, especially his "baby" cat Yoda. Raymond enjoyed bowling and playing dominos. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, he was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. Most recently, Raymond worked at Builder's Do-It Center, O'Rieleys Auto Parts and Sam's Club, all in Roswell, where he befriended most of the town. Raymond never met a stranger.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Roy L. and Inez Prescott; daughter, Tami Dillard; brother, Roy Harlan Prescott.
He is survived by his wife, Shiral of Dexter, NM; son, Gerald Conklin and his wife Cheryl of Roswell, NM; daughter, Sharon Reid of Roswell, NM; brother, Richard A. Prescott and wife, Lynn of Dexter, NM; stepsister, Brandy Lehrman of Phoenix, AZ; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
