Reva Gilliland

GILLILAND, REVA JEAN REED Loving wife of 50 years and our wonderful mother has gone to be with the Lord on April 24, 2008.

Services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M, Wednesday, May14, 2008 at First United Methodist Church for Reva Jean Reed Gilliland, age 73, who passed away April 24, 2008. Rev. Archie Echols will officiate, with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008.

Reva was born September 23, 1934 to Richard and Blanche Reed of Guymon, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of nine children.BRBRShe married Hervey Joe Gilliland July 7, 1957 in Guymon, Oklahoma and they had 3 children. She was the love of his life.BRBR

She began her banking career at First National Bank of Guymon. Following her marriage, she chose to stay home to focus on the priority of her life in being a wonderful and loving wife and mother. She was continually involved in all aspects of the lives of her children and was known to be a favorite mom to all the neighborhood children. She unselfishly devoted herself to her husband and to her children. After raising her three children, she returned to a banking career at Texas Bank and Trust in Lubbock, Texas. She retired from banking in 1990 as the Operations Officer at First Interstate Bank in Roswell, New Mexico. She acquired many lasting and special friendships during her career in banking; however, the focus of her life remained with her family. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Roswell, where she and Hervey especially enjoyed the conversations, stories, and friendships of their friends in their Rocky Sunday School Class. Most of all she will be remembered for her love of life, love for her husband, and love for her children and grandchildren.BRBR

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Blanche Reed, brothers Rayburn Reed and Richard Reed, Jr. and sisters Bonnie Reed, Olive Reed, and Marvel Reed.
PShe is survived by her husband Hervey; son Michael and wife Catherine of Lubbock, Texas, their children Jana Jensen and husband Casey of Dallas, Texas, Caitlan Gilliland and Lisa Gilliland of Lubbock, Texas; daughter Brenda Smith and husband Bill of Wichita Falls, Texas and their children A.J. Smith and Krista Smith; son Richard and wife Melissa of Roswell, New Mexico and their children Michael Gilliland, Rebecca Gilliland, and Allen Gilliland. She is also survived by her brothers Buford Reed and wife Bess of Amarillo, Texas, and Wilford Reed and wife Lena of Guymon, Oklahoma, her sister, Eve Birt of Guymon, Oklahoma, and sisters-in-law Loretta Garrison and husband Bill of Guymon Oklahoma and Patricia Gilliland of Valdosta, Georgia.
