ROSWELL DAILY RECORD NEWS
JONES, RONALD HOUSTON
Ronald Houston Jones passed away at home at the age of 76. Ron, as he was known to family and friends, was a Christian, a son, a father and grandfather. Services for family and close friends are set for Monday, February 9, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
He was born June 9, 1932 to Lehman and Sybil Jones in Chandler Ok. He came to Roswell as a young boy and graduated from Roswell High School in 1950. Ron married Carolyn Bragg on August 9, 1952 in Savannah Ga. They were best friends and sweethearts for more than 56 years. Retiring in 1995 they fulfilled their dream of traveling, after visiting all fifty states, most of Canadian provinces and the interior of Mexico, much of it while RVing. The couple made several trips to Western Europe and Great Britain. One of the highlights of their travels was visiting Rons ancestral home of Wales. Rons proudest legacy in life was his children and grandchildren. He was known to his grandsons as Grandpa fishing man Jones as he was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn; his mother Sybil; two sons: Ron Jr. and wife Coral of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Brian and wife Becky of Roswell; two daughters: Nancy Isaacs and husband Jay of Midland, Texas; and Brenda Kirk and husband Jim of OFallon, Illinois; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and younger brother Aldon.
According to his wishes, his remains were cremated and his ashes will be interred at Rockport Cemetery in Rockport, Texas where the Bluebonnets bloom every spring.
