Rowena Bauman

Rowena Lucille Bauman was born in Van Nuys, California on September 29, 1915. She went to be with her Heavenly Father on November 13, 2007 in Roswell, New Mexico.

Her parents, Elmer Luginbill and wife, Hermina Sprunger Luginbill preceded her in death.

Her husband, John M. Bauman, daughter, Jane Dunlap and husband Travis, daughter, Marsha S. Lard and husband Floyd all of Roswell, survive her. In addition, she is survived by granddaughter, Lesa Morrison and husband Shaelan of Las Cruces, grandson Loren Dunlap and wife Tracy of Los Lunas, grandson, Jay Dunlap and wife Tiffany of Las Cruces, grandson, Cory Cogdill and wife April of Roswell, granddaughter Casey Tays and husband Scott of Roswell, granddaughter, Rebecca Lard Sakelaris and husband John of Raton, New Mexico, and twelve great-grandchildren. Her brother, Harry Luginbill and sister-in-law, Willy of Berne, Indiana, sister-in-law, Vera Luginbill of Roswell and sister-in-law Marjorie Kiel of Minnesota, sister-in-law Anna M. Hinchman of Winchester, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. She is also survived by best friend and caregiver Marie Bizzell.

Rowena spent her youth and teen years in the Swiss community of Berne, Indiana where she attended elementary and high school. After graduating from high school, she was hired as a bookkeeper and secretary at the Dunbar Furniture Company, makers of beautiful household furniture.

On June 10, 1938, Rowena married John M. Bauman, a Geneva High School teacher and coach. The marriage lasted more than 69 years and resulted in the birth of two beautiful daughters, Jane and Marsha.

While teaching, John was called to the military and became a physical training instructor in the US Air Force. While John and Rowena were stationed in Greensboro, NC, Rowena worked in various businesses.

In August 1956, the family moved to Roswell, New Mexico. Rowena became involved with her daughters school activities. She taught Sunday school and Bible school. She was involved with Johns teaching and coaching activities. Rowena loved to sew, work on crafts, bake, cook and do canning. She won many prizes with her entries in the Eastern New Mexico State Fair.

Rowena was a devout Christian and was brought up in her church in Berne, Indiana. Throughout her life, Rowena continued serving the Lord in the First Church of the Nazarene and Central Nazarene Church in Roswell.

Rowena will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and for her many volunteer duties for her church, school and community.
