Roy Oliver Dunseth Jr.

Roy went home to his Lord and Savior on June 19, 2024. Roy was born in Silver Springs, Maryland on March 13,1944 to Roy Oliver Dunseth Sr. and Caroline Dorothy Walker Dunseth.

Roy graduated from Ashland High in Ashland, Ohio in 1962. He entered the Army in 1963, serving in Germany for two and a half years. Roy worked at various jobs after his discharge, among them being the Postal Service and General Motors.

Roy moved to New Mexico in 1972, working at his dad’s service Station in Carlsbad. Shortly after, Roy was hired onto the Carlsbad Police Department where he worked as a patrolman and a Municipal Court Bailiff. Roy retired from the police force in June 2000 after 21 years of service.

Roy loved fishing and exploring the Guadelupe Mountains and working in his yard. In 1984, Roy married the love of his life, Ella Lee Reeves. They had many adventures on their trips to Ruidoso, NM. Roy and Ella lived in Ruidoso for a year and a half, making many friends through First Southern Baptist Church, before returning to Carlsbad. In 2015, Roy and Ella moved to Roswell, NM. They became members of Berrendo Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and a member of the choir. As well as serving on the Maintenance Committee. Roy and Ella shared so many wonderful memories of fellowship and love with the members.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Dunseth Sr. and Caroline Dunseth as well as his brother, Albert Christian Dunseth Sr.

Roy is survived by his wife Ella. Niece’s Diane Scaggs and her husband Rodger, Tiffany King and her husband Danny. Nephew’s Albert Christian (Spike) Dunseth Jr and his wife Missy, and Justin Reeves. Great nephews, Brandon Hickman, Robert King and Wyatt Dunseth. Great niece Lily, and sister-in-law Barbara Dunseth.

A memorial service for Roy will be held at Berrendo Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, with Pastor Troy Grant, at 11:00 am.
