Ruth Hughes

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, Texas for Ruth N. Hughes, 78, of Burton, Texas who went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 9, 2011 in a hospital in Roswell, New Mexico, where she had chosen to spend her final days in the loving care of her daughter, Pattie.

Ruth was born June 20, 1932 to Alfred and Mary Nestvogel in Brooklyn, New York

On May 12, 1951, she married John W. Hughes in Brooklyn, New York. They moved to Brenham, Texas in 1979.

Ruth worked as a receptionist at St. Jude Hospital in Brenham and retired from Foleys Department Store in Bryan College Station.

She is survived by her son: James Hughes of Austin, Texas daughter: Pattie Johnson and husband Mark of Roswell, New Mexico three grandchildren: Billy and Casey Rogers, Christopher Rogers and Jack Taylor greatgrandchildren: Sebastian Rogers, Madison Rogers, Nicholas Rogers, Bailey Rogers and Brayden Taylor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John W. Hughes, and her son, John A. Hughes.

Ruth was a member of St. Annes Catholic Church of Somerville. She loved her family and animals and will be missed dearly.

Pallbearers will be: Billy Rogers, Chris Rogers, Jack Taylor, Mark Johnson, and James Hughes
