Sara Wood

Sara Wood, 66, died on May 11, at her home in Monroe Louisiana. She was born February 18, 1953, in Roswell. New Mexico to Lawrence William and Joan Citty Taylor. Sara was the second of the four girls. The family moved to Amarillo, Texas, while she was in Elementary School. Sara graduated from Canyon High School and from West Texas State University in Canyon.

She married James Terrell Wood on June 7, 1975. They Had two sons, Adam William Wood and Mark Aaron Wood. Her family moved several times and Sara taught school in Amarillo, Houston, and Justin, Texas, and Russellville, Arkansas. After moving to Monroe, she taught several years in a private school, The Learning Tech. She was known for her innovative teaching in all subjects including computer science. Her positive outlook, her sweet spirit, her sense of humor, her love of the Lord attracted all who came in contact with her. Sara fought a long, courageous battle with several painful conditions.



Preceding her in death are her son, Seaman Recruit Adam Wood, and her grandparents, W.F. "Bud" and Norma Taylor and Floyd F. and Gertrude Citty and her in-laws, J.T. and Daisy Wood.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, James T. Wood, her son, Mark Aaron Wood, and her grandchildren, Shakina Wood, Adira Wood, and Cagan Wood of Port Orange, Florida. Also surviving are her parents, Lawrence and Joan Taylor of Roswell, her sisters, Linda Cook (Gary) of Witchita Falls, Texas, Jane Kelley (Darell) of Radium Springs, New Mexico, and Laura Mcsparren (Lyle) of Durango, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be at the First Baptist Church at 10 o'clock on May 21st with the Reverend Darell Kelley presiding. Burial will take place at South Park Cemetery in Roswell.
