WELDON, SHIRLEY ANN MCCLAIN - Shirley Ann McClain Weldon, 81, of Roswell passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Casa Maria Health Care Center. She was born in Roswell, New Mexico on December 21, 1937 to Austin Avis McClain and Marie Agnes Pack McClain.
Viewing for Shirley will be from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 29, 2019 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 30, 2019 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Shirley is survived by her sons; Kelly Sanders and his wife, Marie; Michael Sanders and his wife, Cindy; and her daughter, Marte Sanders Reavis and her husband, Chad. Brother Charles Wesley McClain and his wife, Vickie and her sister, Verna Jean McClain King and her husband Ron. She was preceded in death her by her parents; her sisters; Karen Fae McClain and Nona Vivian McClain Bohanon Stroshine; Brothers, Austin Dwayne McClain and Jeffrey Austin McClain; grandson, Sgt. Christopher Alan Sanders; and her husband(s), Lee Hooser, Jim Sanders and JW Weldon.
Shirley had many grandchildren that loved and cherished her; Christopher Sanders (RIP), Beth Sanders Garza and her husband, Rory, Michael Sanders, Braden Reavis, Addyson Reavis and Kolbe Reavis, granddaughter-in-law. Dara Sanders Aceves and her husband Beto, Jared Schmitz, Brooke Koiner, Joshua Koiner. Her great-grandchildren included Christopher "Alec" Sanders, Jacquelyn Sanders, Halen Aceves, Devlyn Aceves, Ava Marie Schmitz. She left behind many nephews, nieces and their families; William Bohanon, Robbie Bohanon, Natalie Steele, Kimberly Graves, Carol Ann McCleod, Debbie Buss, Barbara Nolan, Richard Boggs, Kathy Smith. Larry King, Pamela McClain, Melissa Marquez, Jason McClain, Shawna Kruegar, Tonya Rennels and Holly Piccard.
Shirley left behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. One of her greatest pleasures was the many gatherings of family and friends in her home. She loved life and enjoyed reading, fishing, watching soap operas and cooking for her family. Her longtime friendship with LoisAnn Stocks was a source of great joy to her and she looked forward to her calls and letters previous to her admit to the nursing home. Margaret Rodriguez and her held a special friendship for over 35 years and visited weekly. Shirley loved her dogs, Miagi and Brandi, and cherished their company. She was very proud of her forty years as a legal secretary at Atwood, Malone, Mann and Turner. She had proudly displayed her retirement gift, a clock, at bedside since her retirement in 1996. She was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church for many years and raised her children with a love of God. In her recent years, Shirley was loved by all at the nursing home she spent her last few years at. Her family was astounded, and blessed, by the employees and ex-employees that took the time to come in and see Shirley in her final days. Their stories of their love for her made this time of loss very special. Shirley loved them.
Shirley never lost her ability to share her love and bless those around her. She will be missed.
