Sidney Emerson

EMERSON, SIDNEY SID Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at South Manor Baptist Church for Sidney Sid Emerson, age 86 of Roswell, who passed away June 1, 2009. Rev. Butch Neal of South Manor Baptist Church will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Sid was born on June 15, 1922 in Meadow, Texas to Newton and Ira Emerson. They have preceded him in death as well as nine brothers and three sisters.

Sid married Syble Painter on July 20, 1946 in Roswell. She survives him at the family home.

Sid is survived by a daughter: Teresia Parson and her husband Gary of Roswell; two grandchildren: Kim Parson of Roswell and Stephen Parson and his wife Jessica of Huntington Beach, CA; one great grandchild: Sarah Parson of Roswell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sid served his country in the United States Army in World War II. He also worked as a Water Plant operator for Civil Service and later worked for Armstrong Construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a member of the South Manor Baptist Church.
