ALSTON, STEPHEN JACK No services are scheduled at this time for Stephen Jack Alston, age 92, of Roswell, who passed away March 13, 2010. A service will be held at a later date in Alpine, Arizona.

Jack was born on June 7, 1917 in Trenton, Pennsylvania to Nellie and Stephen John Alston, Sr. They have both preceded him in death.

Jack graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in Petroleum Engineering and Geology. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He worked for Vulcan Materials for 32 years until his early retirement and for Proler International until his final retirement.

He met Elizabeth Betty Root in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. They were married on June 6, 1942. They were married 58 years. Betty and Jack had three daughters. They worked and raised their daughters in Pennsylvania, Indiana, New Jersey and Texas. They retired to the White Mountains of Arizona for 17 years. It was their favorite place to live and their favorite time of life. They eventually moved to Roswell. Betty preceded Jack in death on July 4, 2000. His brother, Bob, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by three daughters: Sandra Alston Culme and her husband John of Lewes, United Kingdom, Nan Ulrich of Huntington, Indiana and Susan AlstonRichardson and her husband Michael of Roswell one sister, Alice Frauenheim and her husband Bill of Herndon, Virginia also six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

As the longest living member of the Alston family he lived a life that was blessed in many ways and he will be dearly missed.
