Stephen Meredith

A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 1, 2017, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Stephen Wallace Meredith, age 71, who passed away August 29, 2017 following a brief illness. He had resided in Amarillo, Texas for the past 23 years. For friends and family, Mr. Meredith will lie in state at LaGrone Funeral Chapel from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, August 31, 2017. Interment will be at South Park Cemetery. Pastor Kenneth Heck and Pastor Wayne Kinman will be officiating.

Steve was born to parents M. M. "Mack" and Mary Belle Meredith on August 2, 1946 in Artesia, NM. He married the love of his life, Tretha Darelene Pirtle Meredith on April 8, 1966 and was then blessed with twin sons, Greg Alton Meredith and Craig Allen Meredith. He was preceded in death by his son Craig Meredith, and his parents Mack and Mary Meredith. He is survived by his wife Tretha, son Greg Meredith and wife Kelly, granddaughter Stephanie Tisdale and husband Jared and grandson Craig Meredith all of Amarillo, Texas, granddaughter Leah Smith, great-granddaughter Alexia Smith, brother Rodney Meredith and wife Georgetta, sisters Kay Counts and husband Wayne and Kathy Nepps and husband Bernie, and numerous nephews and nieces. After graduation from Roswell High School in 1964 he went into retail management for 26 years and then retired from pharmaceutical delivery in 2008. His home church was Tabernacle Baptist where he and Tretha were married. At the time of his passing he was at home at Southwest Baptist of Amarillo, Texas.

Pallbearers: Greg Meredith, Rodney Meredith, Craig Meredith, Jon Meredith, Steve Meredith and Jered Tisdale. Honorary Pallbearers: Stephanie Tisdale, George Pirtle, Paul Pirtle, Randy Pirtle, Wayne Counts and Bernie Nepps.
