Susan Mary Susie Rodrigue, age 64, died on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a courageous battle with cancer.
Susie was born on June 17, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to John M. and Celia R Weiss. She was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and moved with her family to Roswell, New Mexico in 1961. Susie graduated from St Peter High School in 1962 and was employed at St Marys Hospital until her marriage in 1965. Susie began working in the oil and gas industry in Denver, Colorado in 1977, first with the Anderson Oil company and then with Stanley W Crosby, III. She returned to Roswell in 1989 and was a production analyst for Read and Stevens, Inc. until her illness.
Susie had a quick wit and great sense of humor. She loved her family, friends, gardening, and her cats. Susie was a loving mother, sister and aunt. She was a true and loyal friend, known for her unfailing honesty, kindness and energy.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Celia Weiss of Roswell and her elder son, John Robert Rodrigue of Denver. She is survived by her son Steven M. Rodrigue and Donna Maestes; grandchildren Jessica and Tyler Rodrigue and Madison Bianco, all of Albuquerque; brother John Weiss of Kansas City; sister Martha Fuller and her husband, James of Clovis, NM; sister Betsy Finley, her husband Pat and their daughters, Laura and Katie; and niece Amy Fuller Chavez, her husband Eric and sons Ethan and Brandon all of Albuquerque.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday January 9, 2009 at St Peter Church. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 AM January 10, 2009 at St Peter Church with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery. LaGrone Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers include John Maxey, Bill Bradshaw, Bob Watson, Clay Barnhill, Robert Castillo and Jim Brannigan. Honorary Pallbearer is Charles B. Read.
We express our thanks to the Charles B. Read family; the staff of Read and Stevens and her many friends and neighbors for their caring and constant support during Susies long and difficult illness. The family also wishes to acknowledge the many physicians and nurses in Roswell and Albuquerque for their skill, kindness and caring.
Donations in Susies name may be made to the Good Samaritan Center at St Peter Church or the American Cancer Society.
Susie will be remembered for her lifetime of caring and tenderness for her friends and family.
