CARTER, SUSIE MAURINE- Susie Maurine Carter was sent to heaven October 11, 2020 after three years of a long, hard fight with cancer that she handled with grace and courage, she passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Susie was born to James “Buck” and Lois Mann on September 23, 1968 in Dallas, TX. She was raised in Royce City, TX along with her two brothers Johnny and Dickey. Being the only girl, she had grown to be a strong, hard-working and independent woman and no matter where she lived, she will always be a true-blue Texas Daddy’s girl and a huge Dallas Cowboys Fan.

Never forgetting her roots, she spent most of her amazing life in Roswell, NM, which is where she met and married the love of her life and soulmate- Gary Carter. They built a beautifully blended family the epitome of unconditional love and unbreakable bonds. Together they raised 3 daughters. There was no “yours or mine” it was always “our girls”. She was the proudest Mama, but to say Susie was the most tender, loving and completely devoted grandma “Nana” would be an understatement. There are no words meaningful enough to express the love she felt for all her babies. She not only contributed to her family, but also did a lot of work in the community. Susie worked in the performing arts area for most of her young adult life and continued to help artists in her older years trying to open up the “dome” as a production area. She was always there for anyone who needed help, her door was always open to others. Susie took pride in herself by enriching the lives of others and bettering her community and creating a legacy of admirable virtues instilled in the life of everyone she knew. She will always be regarded as an amazing wife, mom, grandma, sister, daughter, cousin, aunt, friend and guardian. Countless family members, friends and children who hold a place in her heart have been given the gift of eternal, genuine love as Susie Carter’s love has no bounds.

Those left to cherish Susie’s memory are, her loving husband of 29 years, Gary and their 3 daughters; Catalina Bustamante, (Tommy Jr.) and 4 children: Jasmine, Tommy III, Avalynn, and Brilee; Jessica Anderson, (Roger) and 4 children: Max, Justeen, Cyal, and Alexander; Mylinda Carter, (Deacon) and 3 children: Ebon, Bryson and Ryker. Susie is also survived by her “son”, Jerry Najar and his children;  older brother, Johnny Mann and younger brother, Dickey Mann. She was a proud great-grandmother of 5 and had many nieces and nephews.

Susie is proceeded in death by her father James “Buck” Mann and dearest friend Kat.
