SOURK, SUZANNE - Suzanne Sourk, 7/26/1940 -1/12/2019. We lost our loving mom on January 12, 2019. She passed away peacefully in the company of her sons, Brian and Scott; daughter-in-law Sally.

A memorial service for Suzanne will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at New Covenant Church in Roswell, NM.

Suzanne was born in Detroit, MI. Each summer the family enjoyed staying at the cottage on Lake Charlevoix in North Michigan. They returned there for almost 20 years, and Suzanne would travel back throughout the rest of her life joined by other extended family.

In 1959 at the age of 19, Suzanne married William Cully and had two children, Brian in 1960 and Scott in 1962. She was divorced in 1964 then remarried to Gordon Creeger of Grosse Point in 1969 and resided in Michigan. The family enjoyed their friends, and hiking, camping, cross country skiing, as well as sailing Gordon's boat on Lake Clair in Detroit. Family trips with Grandma, sister Jo, nieces and nephews to Higgins Lake were always fun. Gordon adopted Brian and Scott and continues to be a loving supportive father. Suzanne and Gordon divorced in 1985.

With her children grown, Suzanne returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University. Also earned a masters in Public Health at the University of Michigan. She taught classes at EMU while pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy.

Suzanne left the cold winters in Michigan for Arizona in 1991. She continued her career there for several years as well as a short stint in San Diego. She then applied to the Red Cross and was accepted to work in Armenia. Suzanne loved her work there and made many friends.

Returning to Tucson to finish her career, she met and married David. They retired together to Dexter, NM. She and David raised cattle and chickens, rode their horses, Shieka and Ruby. They loved all their animals, especially their herding dogs, Lacey and Cash. Finally they settled at their mini ranch in Roswell, NM.

Suzanne enjoyed many trips in her later years to Finland, Michigan and an Alaskan cruise. Then also to visit son, Brian in Seattle and sail the Puget Sound on his boat.

The past few years Suzanne and David spent on the ranch, she visited with her son Scott and Sally, enjoying Scott drum playing in the church band.

Suzanne received great medical care in Roswell, especially from cardiologist, Dr. Rivers. She battled thru bypass surgery at UMC in Lubbock, TX in 2016. Suzanne greatly appreciated all here in Roswell who cared for her.

Suzanne fought thru organ failure in November and December, grateful to her now ex-husband David who remained as her caregiver. Suzanne spent the holidays with Brian, Scott, and David and daughter in-law, Sally all caring for her. Suzanne will be greatly missed, we are comforted she is in a better place in heaven and continue to feel her love and spirit with us.

Suzanne is survived by her sister, Helen Jo and nieces Cynthia and Jill; nephews, Tim and Todd. She was preceded in death by parents, Stanley P. Jessen and Helen J. Jessen; brother, Stan and nephew, Steve.

Obituary lovingly written by family.
