A visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Tommy Ray Ticer, age 87, who passed away on August 15, 2015. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at South Park Cemetery.
Tommy was born to Calvin and Abbie Cude Ticer on May 13, 1928 in Lubbock, Texas. He was raised in West Texas, he moved to Roswell in 1980. Tommy served his country in the U.S. Army, he was stationed in Alaska, and while he was there he taught winter survival training.
He enjoyed going to casinos. He had a great sense of humor, right up to the end. Tommy never complained about any aches and pains. Tommy grew up during the depression. He was a very independent man with a big heart.
He was a farmer and a roughneck at the same time, he finally gave up farming and kept rough necking. Tommy loved gardening and had the best yellow meat watermelons around. He also enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables. He loved all animals, he would take in strays and would take care of them.
Tommy is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Montgomery Ticer.
He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Darren Sooter, Gene Lawson, Coby Hayes, Michael Trujillo, Michael Wolfrum, Jimmy Pierot, and Rick Martinez.
