Verna Lera Waggoner

A graveside funeral service is scheduled at 11 am on Tuesday, September 11th at South Park Cemetery for Verna Waggoner, who passed away at Casa Maria on Saturday, September 8 at the age of 94. Grandson Bill Waggoner, pastor of Crosses Community Church, Crosses, Arkansas, will preside.

Verna was born May 6, 1913 in Copeland, Arkansas to Rhoda Pack Goates and Asa E. Goates, both deceased. She and Glen Waggoner were united in marriage on October 13, 1928 in Roswell. They were married 67 years. Glen passed away June 3, 1996. A son, Norman Waggoner, passed away on December 21, 1994 and grandson Robert Graveline, passed away on October 4, 2006. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Verna was a most gentle and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy. She was so loved by her family and friends. Verna was an extremely talented person a seamstress, doll maker and quilt maker. Verna and Glen dedicated their lives to Christ early in their marriage. They were members of the Trinity Apostolic Faith Church.

Surviving her are two sons, Bobby Waggoner and wife Winona of Elkins, AR and Troy Waggoner and wife Wynemia of Roswell; a daughter, Maureen Graveline of Roswell; a daughter-in-law, Ethel Waggoner of Pea Ridge, AR; one brother, Willie Goates of Burn, OR and one sister-in-law Arlene Goates of Hughson, CA. Grandchildren are Debbie and Richard Graveline of New Mexico; Pat Warford, Pam Eurich, Bill, David, Delbert and Tommy Waggoner; and Rachel Bolinger of Arkansas; Great-grandchildren are Renee and Rochelle Graveline of Roswell, Keith Warford, Chad Van Brunt, Kayla and Elyse Eurich, Krystal Gano, Jason and Jacob Waggoner, Tammy McLeroy, Justin and Ashley Bolinger of Arkansas. Great-great grandchildren are Michael Graveline of Roswell; Jascha and Schana Van Brunt, Quinton and Weston Gano, Sage and Wyatt Waggoner and Joshua McLeroy, of Arkansas.

Verna was a resident of Casa Maria Nursing Center. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hererra and the entire staff of Casa Maria and VistaCare for their loving care of this very special woman.

Arrangements are under the direction of La Grone Funeral Chapel.
