Vida Southern

SOUTHERN, VIDA LOU Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Vida Lou Southern, age 75, of Roswell who passed away on January 8, 2013. Pastor Randy Elftman with Central Church of the Nazarene will officiate, Internment to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Vida was born on September 16, 1937 in Braggs, OK to Huie and Lorene Lewis. They have preceded her in death as well as a brother Curtis Lewis.

Vida married John B Southern on August 22, 1966 in Nowata, OK. He survives her at the family home.

Vida is also survived by a son: Doug Southern and his wife Karen of Roswell brother: Boyd Lewis of Claremore, OK sisters: Dean Brant of Tulsa, OK, Danna Miller of Wagoner, OK, and Rita McClain of Bethany, OK granddaughter: BrookeLynne Southern of Roswell. She also has numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Vida was a member of the Central Church of the Nazarene. She was a devoted and caring teacher to students here in Roswell and Colorado for over 30 years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, quilting, and scrapbooking. She took care of the church nursery at the Central Church of the Nazarene. She loved her family and participating in family reunions.
