SCHETTLER, VIOLA MENNECKE -- A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 10, 2008, at La Grone Funeral Chapel, for Viola Mennecke Schettler, age 96, of El Paso, formerly of Roswell, who peacefully entered into the Kingdom of God May 1, 2008 at an El Paso Nursing Home. Rev. Tracy Spencer-Brown of Westminster Presbyterian Church will conduct the service.BRBRViola was born April 27, 1912 in Roswell, New Mexico to Louis and Christine Steinhauser Mennecke who ranched west of Roswell. She graduated from Roswell High School and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music where she met her husband Ted of 70 years who passed away February 21, 2004. They lived together in Roswell for 45 years.BRBRSurvivors include 2 sons; Theodore W. Schettler III and wife Ruth, Stanley L. Schettler and wife Mary, two daughters; Christine S. Crouse and husband Steven, and Eleanore S. Schultz and husband Bruce, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of friends who loved her dearly.BRBRViola was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church until she and Ted moved to El Paso July, 2001. She was a member of the Beaucant order and worked with the Community Kitchen.BRBRMemorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
