Violet Porter

PORTER HENDRICKS, VIOLET- Violet Hendricks Porter passed on July 27, 2018 at 95 years of age. She was born in Louisiana on November 16, 1922. Her family soon moved to White County Arkansas until in 1938 she, her mother and sister arrived in Roswell, NM. She married Roy Melton (Buck) Hendricks in 1940. After his death in 1982 she married O.T. Porter. Upon his death she moved to Ruidoso where she loved looking at Sierra Blanca, the blue skies and white clouds.

She was preceded in death by her parents Winnie Cunningham and Lafayette Rolla Palmer and siblings Thomas Howard Palmer, Marcus Palmer, Alene Nichols, and Doris Pritchard.

Her children survive her: Milton Hendricks and his wife, Susan; Don Hendricks; and Marilyn Ward and husband, Wayne. Her grandchildren: Brian Hendricks and wife, Debbie; Mishawn Leadingham and husband, Allen; Jeff Hendricks and wife, Sharon; Melissa Hendricks; Casey Ward and wife, Amanda; and Matt Ward. Great-grandchildren are: Carrie (Jonathan) Vajko; Kristi (Brian) Flunker; Brenton (Melanie) Leadingham; Corbett Leadingham; Conner (Kelsey) Leadingham; Rylan Leadingham; Milton Joseph Hendricks; Courtney (John) Britt; Cory Jacobs; and Sterling Ward. Her great-great-grands are: Dacie, Kelvie; and Memphis Britt, Charlotte Leadingham; and Finnley Vajko.

Violet was active in many organizations in the East Grand Plains area.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Jeff, Melissa, Brian, Mishawn, Casey and Matt.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the South Park Cemetery in Roswell.

In lieu of flowers and donations in Violet's memory, the family asks that everyone please be kind, generous, and caring to all.
