Willie Mcinnes

October 2, 1932 — July 17, 2020

Roswell

McInnes, Willie – Willie M. McInnes was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 17, 2020. Born October 2, 1932 in Roswell, NM to Winn and Annie (Purcella) McInnes, he began his life on the McInnes homestead ranch 52 miles northwest of Roswell. There he learned how to work hard, appreciate conservation of the land, and a love for all animals.

Willie’s school years were divided between a schoolhouse located near the ranch, Capitan, NM, and Roswell. In Roswell he met the love of his life, Hazel Wright and carved her initials on the haybarn post at the ranch when he was fourteen years old.

Willie enlisted in the National Guard and served two years which ended when his father died, and he was called back to help his mother with the ranch. Upon his return in 1951 he married that girl with the initials on the haybarn, Hazel, and began their life together. Willie wore many hats during their marriage starting as a pharmaceutical delivery man in Roswell and surrounding areas. Their first son, Dale, was born and he decided that farming was his calling.

Willie and Hazel bought a farm in Portales, NM where eventually two more sons, Danny and Sammy, were born. Life on the farm was not easy and times were hard so Wille took a second job as the manager for Continental Oil Company in Clovis, NM. He worked hard at both careers until 1972 when he and his sister Nettie bought the homestead ranch from his mother and returned once again to the ranching life he dearly loved.

Willie ranched until his retirement in 2016, but his love for the ranch, the land and animals never left him.

Willie was preceded in death by his father and mother Winn and Annie McInnes; brothers Jessie, Lewis, and Luther McInnes; sister Velma Temple, Pat Payne, and Nettie Fuchs; sons Sammy and Dale McInnes and the eternal love of his life, Hazel.

Willie leaves behind his son Danny and wife Sherri of Artesia, NM; daughter-in-law Sharen McInnes of Cedar Hill, NM; grandchildren Jesses McInnes and his wife LaDonna of Cedar Hill, NM, Robert McInnes and his wife Melody of Durango, Co, Adam McInnes and his Katie of Flower Mound, TX, Sarah Larson and her spouse Drew Hately of Harrah, OK, Jason McInnes and his wife Jodi of Edgewood, NM, and Amber McInnes of Ft. Sumner, NM; greatgrandchildren Brittny Williams, Ethan and Wynn McInnes, Dawson and Shea McInnes, Wyatt Larson, Skyler, Tyler, and Wyatt Harris, and Shane and KayLaree McInnes; great great-grandchildren Karlie Meketi and Brylie Williams. Willie also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Willie loved God, his family, the ranch, and friends he met along the way.

In lieu of flowers, Willie would tell you to save your money but vote RED in the upcoming 2020 election to save our Nation.
