Willis Savage

January 4, 1921 — November 9, 2014

SAVAGE, WILLIS EARL Willis Earl Savage entered his heavenly home on Sunday, November 9, 2014 while a patient at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a resident of Emeritus Heritage House in Brandon, Mississippi where he had resided since August 2012. Visitation for Mr. Savage will be held on Thursday, November 13, at LaGrone Funeral Home from 6:008:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at Bethel Baptist Church on Friday, November 14, at 10:00 am with visitation from 9:0010:00 am. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Willis was born January 4, 1921 in Grand Saline, Texas. After graduation from Warren High School, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He served as a machine gunner in the European theater including the Battle of the Bulge. Upon discharge from the military, he joined his brothers in their business at Savage Brothers Electric in Roswell, New Mexico. He retired from the business in 1987. In his retirement years, Willis enjoyed doing handy man jobs for many residents of Roswell. He enjoyed being available to help whenever and wherever he was needed.
Willis greatest joy was his relationship with Jesus Christ. His involvement in the life of his church included teaching 12 year old boys for a number of years followed by teaching senior adults while serving on various committees. He served with great dedication as Chairman of Deacons. His greatest desire was to live a life the reflected Jesus.
Willis is survived by his four children: Judy Don Hicks of Brandon, Mississippi, Kathy Bob Mitchell of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Wendell Jane Savage of Aurora, Colorado, and Hoyt Donna Savage of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 greatgrandchildren, his brothers Leon Savage of Roswell, New Mexico and Ted Savage of Livingston, Texas as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Savage, his parents, eight brothers, two sisters, and two infant grandsons.
