KRANK, WILMA GLADSTONE POLLY Wilma Gladstone Polly Krank, 77, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed into the arms of our heavenly Father at her home on Sunday, May 24. She was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, the daughter of the late W.E. Polk and the late Ivie Ola Nixon.
Polly worked for Mountain Bell for thirty years as a telephone operator and eventually a drafter in the engineering department, retiring in 1988. While raising her three children, she volunteered at the Humane Society and was a member of the Jingle Bob Telephone Pioneers since the late seventies and assisted with their community service activities.
She thoroughly enjoyed her retirement years by camping and reading, but she was first and foremost a lover of animals big and small, and often had turtles, frogs, squirrels, and many dogs and birds. She was a member of the Berrendo Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, David Stevens of Roswell, daughter Kathy Englund of Black Canyon City, Arizona; daughter Krystal Claudio and beloved son-in-law Jerry Claudio of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren Adrian and Misti Leonard of Mesa, Arizona and Andrew Leonard of Winston Salem, North Carolina; sister Lorena Lavenia Kirk of Flagstaff, Arizona; and nieces Elaine Sherfey of Flagstaff, Arizona and Jackie Sue Gray of Mesa, Arizona.
A service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Pastor Troy Grant of Berrendo Baptist Church will officiate with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 P.M.
