Winfred Eleanor Lydia Stevenson Albrecht was born in Montrose, CO, December 18, 1917, to William L. and Winifred Pearl Todd Stevenson. She died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, in her home.
The family moved to Pueblo, CO, where Eleanor was raised and graduated from Pueblo High School in 1935.
Eleanor married Ernest E. Albrecht September 13, 1936, in Pueblo, CO. She is survived by her husband, Ernest of the family home; son, William and wife Kay, along with their daughter Stephanie, of Green Valley, AZ, daughter, Emmalee Knadle and her husband, Larry, of Roswell, their three children, Amy Howell, husband Pat, their children, Matthew, Zachary and Jullian Howell of Canyon, TX: Gregory Knadle of Falls Church, VA: and Steven Knadle, wife Misty, and their three children, Hayley and Michael Jones and Nathanael Knadle of Canyon, TX.
Also surviving are sisters, Kathleen Joy Sanders, and Katherine Hope Epperson of Pueblo, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Verne and Jack Stevenson.
Eleanor was very musically blessed, becoming extremely proficient with the piano and organ. She also played other instruments throughout her 90 years. She served her Lord as a church organist for over 50 years. Eleanor was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Roswell. She affirmed her baptism when she was confirmed into the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, March of 1941, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pueblo, CO. She and Ernest were also founders and charter members of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod churches in Provo, UT, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church; Cortez, CO, Trinity Lutheran Church; Canyon City, CO, St. John Lutheran Church.
During their almost 72 years of marriage, Eleanor and Ernest lived in Durango and Pueblo, CO, Provo, UT, Goldendale, WA, Lewis and Canyon City, CO, Tucson, AZ and Roswell, NM.
Eleanor worked as a secretary for several years, and on Ernests retirement, they traveled the world extensively, including one trip completely around the world. They also traveled the United States, Mexico and Canada. Both of them fondly recalled their extensive travels for many years.
A committal of Eleanors remains will be held Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 9 A.M. at South Park Cemetery, followed by a memorial service, 10:00 A.M., Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1405 N. Sycamore with Pastor Daniel Praeuner of Immanuel Lutheran Church performing the services.
