NICHOLAS, JUANITA--A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at LaGrone Funeral Home for Winnie Juanita Nicholas, 90, of Roswell, who died peacefully at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Jan. 18, 2009. Robert Teague, former minister of West Alameda Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Juanita was born May 22, 1918, in Quanah, Texas, to Charlie and Nellie White. Her parents preceded her in death as well as her husband of 42 years, Joseph Rhodes Nicholas. She was also preceded in death by brothers Bud, Carl and C.E. White.
Juanita was a lifelong member of the West Alameda Church of Christ, a licensed cosmetologist for 50 years, past president of the Porcelain Art Club and a formerly active member in the china painting community. She had been a resident at Peachtree for several years.
Juanita is survived by daughter Nancy Harris and husband Charlie of Reno; grandson Ron Harris and wife Fanchon of Spring, TX; granddaughter Jana Elliott and husband Randy of Reno, NV; Tracy Lutringer and husband Lester of Richmond, TX; great grandsons Robert Harris of Houston; Jon Elliott of Reno and James Elliott of Reno. She is also survived by brothers Lee Roy White and special friend Glynn Gregory of Roswell and Thurman White and wife Johnnie of Hagerman; one nephew Jimmy White of Bosque Farms; nieces Evelyn Michell of Phoenix; Elaine Lewis and husband Boyd of Ada, OK; Linda Johnson and husband R.J. of Hagerman; Kim White of Tatum; Jan Callaway and husband David of Roswell and Mary Lou, Marie, Pat, Debbie, Clarence and Irie all of Texas. Juanita is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bryan White, Mark White, Jimmy White, Boyd Lewis, Ryan Michell, Kris Michell, Ronnie Harris and Lester Lutringer.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion along with the staff at Peachtree for their special care through the years.
