A prayer and remembrance service is scheduled for 7:30pm, Friday, December 13, 2013, at St. Peters Catholic Church, for Zudie Schnedar, 79, of Roswell, who passed away November 28 in Silver Spring, Maryland. A funeral mass officiated by Fr. Charlie will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 14, 2013, at St. Peters Catholic Church.
Zudie was born February 7, 1934, in Pampa, Texas, to James Patrick and Zula Kirby Brown. Her parents preceded her in death as well as a son, Michael Joseph, her husband, Judge William Joseph Schnedar, and three brothers, Judge John Edward Brown, Bernard Franklyn Brown, and James Patrick Brown, Jr., and their wives Molly, Marge and Joyce.
Zudie married William Joseph Bill Schnedar on June 12, 1954, in Pampa, TX. They lived five years in San Diego, CA, while her husband served in the Navy and two years in Albuquerque, NN, while he completed law school.
They moved to Roswell in 1960 where they raised nine children. Zudies children were her pride and joy in life. In addition to being a mom to her own children, she treasured the special bond she had with her nieces and nephews and her childrens friends. She loved for her house to be the gathering place for family and friends as her kids grew up.
After taking care of her son, Mike, for six months before his death, Zudie was inspired to return to college in 1982 and became a registered nurse. She treasured her 10 years of nursing at St. Marys Hospital. Retirement brought new friends and new adventures. Zudie was a special advocate for children through the CASA program, as well as a Prison Minister. She found joy in bringing love, peace and hope to others.
Zudies faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was grateful for the foundation she gained from Holy Souls Church in Pampa, Texas, and the love and community she found in St. Peters Parish in Roswell. Zudie also enjoyed learning about others beliefs and their path to God.
Having spent her entire adult life in Roswell, Zudie had lifelong friendships that added immeasurable joy to her life. She enjoyed her tap dance group until late in life and loved her Friday mornings with the coffeeno coffee group. Zudie enjoyed life to the fullest, accepting along the way those sorrows everyone has in this life. All the experiences she shared with other people and through the causes that touched her heart gave her life purpose.
